Working cocker spaniel in field

Come and meet me

You like what you have seen so far and now I'd like to invite you to meet me and take a look around my home to make sure everything is just right.....

First step

DURING WORKING HOURS I’M ENTERTAINING MY DOGGY CLIENTS SO IN THE FIRST INSTANCE PLEASE EMAIL ME TO ARRANGE A PHONE CHAT.

Things to include ……

Where you live, I collect daycare guests and bring them home Monday to Friday so this is very important as I limit my clients time in the car so this enables to see if I can help you quickly

What help you require, which days daycare you need each week or what holiday dates you need, if you can be flexible or need a firmer arrangement.

What your dog is like, their good and the challenges. Any training you have done or things you’d like to improve on.

Has your dog any behavioural challenges ? please include these.

Your dogs age, breed and sex.

PLEASE NOTE WE DO NOT BOARD ENTIRE ADULT MALES

ALL DOGS MUST HAVE A TRIAL DAY BEFORE ANY BOARDING OR DAYCARE COMMENCES

Second step...

After we have spoken on the phone and we both feel we could be a match the next step is to come and say hi. We will put a date in the diary where you will come over and chat about your dog so I get a better picture and you meet my dogs and I and see my home. You can see my Licence, Insurance and other documentation.

After we have done this and we both feel we are still a match we will then book a trial day/night for your dog to visit and undergo assessment. I will ask you not to bring your dog on this initial visit, this enables you to relax and take in everything. I prefer my our dogs to meet in a controlled situation where I am fully focused on whats happening. I can’t do this to my best ability and chat. You are welcome to bring a partner but I would ask that small people stay at home. I rarely have children visit and cannot ensure their safety..

I will need to see proof of your dogs vaccination, including Kennel cough. Please check your dog has had the kennel cough vaccine as it is not always routinely included in vaccinations. Kennel cough is a live vaccine, I require 10 days clearance before I welcome any dog after this has been administered.

When we have a date for the trial day/night in our diary you will drop off your dog in the morning and I will bring them home the following afternoon. During the trial period I will assess your dog for a variety of things, I will try to engage with your dog, make friends and let them know I am their person when you aren’t here. My goal is to make them happy and that they settle in and relax.

They’ll meet my dogs individually and I’ll assess them, some things that I look at are : lead walking, recall in the controlled space of my dog paddock, how they behave when excited, can I brush and examine them, how are they in the car and can I leave them alone should I need to pop to the shop. My main aim for this time is for a dog to be happy in mine and my dogs company, to get them relaxed and able to enjoy the experience and want to come back.

Some dogs need more than one trial day/night or may find a few sessions of daycare really help them before boarding. This ensures you and your dog have familiarity with me. Please note any dogs staying with me require a sleepover trial. I can only trial one dog at a time so the dogs they meet are all dogs I am very familiar with.

Trials are £80 (two days and one night, example Sat am to Sunday pm)  This can be split to a day then a day and overnight leaving am next day if you feel it is required

What happens if my dog fails its trial?

I have a very comprehensive trial day/night, fails do happen. Mainly from overstimulation, overly boisterous play/bullying other dogs, jumping up, excessive barking, pestering behaviour and separation anxiety.

I’m happy to try and work with owners to help these problems but must ensure the safety and comfort of all dogs I care for so sadly this does mean in some cases dogs fail.
