"Sam runs a first class VIP pet care service for Dogs - the attention to detail and thought that goes into running this service truly creates ‘a dogs life’ for our little Daschund. Doggy day care, boarding, collection and return are just some of the services on offer and we have used them all. We couldn’t recommend Sam and her team any more highly to anyone in this part of the world who needs help and support with their dog. Her broad knowledge of dogs, care and training have been invaluable to us and her reliability is second to none. Thank you!"

Luxury dog home boarding

Our guests stay with us inside my home. We do not offer external kennels.

They have access to all the comfiest places – sofas, chairs and laps are all at their disposal. (if allowed at home, we follow your rules )

We try to offer the best holiday and daycare experience for your dog with our guests enjoying days filled with walks in the countryside, playing in one of our dog proof fields (.5 & 3.5 acres), our evenings in front of the fire and nights spent sleeping soundly.  The only area I restrict is upstairs. I follow your rules at home so as not to impact on you and your pets life on their return home.

Security is my priority.

We are non disclosure and my home is fully equipped. We do not advertise our presence and visitors are welcome by appointment only. We are purposefully not easy to find.

Walks are mainly on private land.

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME

As the daughter of a Gamekeeper I have always been surrounded by animals. I was 8 when I raised my first Labrador as its mum thought the runt was best left to die but I had other idea's, looking after this tiny helpless puppy and sleeping next to it in a makeshift moses basket installed a great love for animals that has grown and grown. I have looked after and raised almost every kind of domestic pet you can think of, from chickens and ducks to dogs, cats, ferrets, orphaned lambs and horses. Betts pets started in 2014, I have been very fortunate to be recommended by many clients and to enable us to meet demand I now work with a small team of fantastic people. We operate a strict two hand rule where no more than two of us handle a client. This has ensured our services run smoothly throughout the year and gives us maximum flexibility to be able to help. You know who will be with your pet and we know you and your pet well so we can tell if anything isn't quite as it should be. We were originally based in Hampstead norreys Berkshire but as of the first of April 2022 we are now based in the beautiful rural Bassett down, Wroughton for our home boarding and daycare.  We collect and return dogs so the the extra distance isn't inconvenient for clients and the dogs travel in safety and comfort. We offer a range of high-quality bespoke dog services catering to your exact needs. I can look after your pet during the day or evening, and whilst your farther afield. I also offer luxury dog home boarding for both long and short term and dog educational holidays. We take great care with your dog and when walking will only allow dogs off a lead in safe and secure locations and with your written consent. I have 3.5 acres of dog secure exercise area's and walk mainly on private land, ensuring your dog can exercise in a large, but secure open space.  At my home I use the enclosed dog play area of 3.5 acres divided between 2 area's. This is useful for recall testing, training, playing frisbee and socialisation and to allow those dogs unable to be let off the lead a little bit of controlled freedom. We are fully insured and operate a SafeKey system, ensuring your property’s security at all times and I use added common sense when you’re away from home by only using an un-marked vehicle. I am CRB checked and have been trained in animal first aid and am licensed by Wiltshire council to home board dogs. ABOUT
Sam Betts dog walking

We’re so lucky to have found Betts Pets. Whether he’s with Sam for daycare, or boarding with her and her own dogs whilst we’re away, we have complete piece of mind that our lab is always safe and being extremely well cared for in a fun and happy home. We really appreciate that Sam varies and tailors each day’s activities, even building on any training we’ve been doing, rather than it being just a doggy free-for-all for 6 hours (which was really important for us to avoid). Our pup is always super excited to be picked-up in the morning, before coming home calm and very ready for a good night’s sleep!

A typical day in daycare or boarding

Please note the following is an approximate. Puppies, young, elderly and dogs recovering from surgery are taken out more frequently and placed on a managed exercise programme to fit their capabilities. We vary the times of outings and meals with mature dogs to ensure that they are never expecting something at a given time. For example the main long, most exciting walk of each day, as written below as taking place in the morning, at least twice a week is swapped with a later outing of the day. This variation helps prevent any anticipation which may develop into unnecessary stress. The daily routine for fit, adult dogs for dogs boarding with us. Daycare dogs are collected between 8-9 typically and returned between 5-6pm 07:00-07:30 Taken out for a short walk (30mins) 09.00-9.30 Light Breakfast – from their bowl or if preferred from a feeding puzzle bowl, an activity ball, buster cube, static maze, snuffle mat or pyramid puzzle. Followed by at least 60 mins of rest. 10.30-12.30 Morning group walks and play starting in my paddocks allowing the dogs to interact and play before setting of on our walk. Heading out over differing routes over the surrounding mixture of terrain with wild flower meadows, crops, ancient woodland. 12.40-14.00 Rest with Chews and occasional snuffle mat or puzzle bowl. Shade bathing in summer and lie in front of the fire in winter. We also take this time to brush the dogs and take note of there condition and check them over. For more active dogs, training, find it games, scent work and lead work or your specific training . For mature very well behaved dogs free access to securely fenced paddocks to meander under supervision when weather allows. 14.30-15.30 Second walk of the day, a more leisurely walk. 18.00 -18.30 Main Meal (Always ensuring half an hour rest before and after eating meals)  19.00 Gentle relieving paddock wander (10-20 mins) In summer months this is the last relaxing walk of the day for boarding guests. 19.30-22.00 Rest, relaxation and cuddle time 22.30 Taken out for the last toilet break of the day before bedtime treat and lights out. Arranging a visit and trial day

Next steps...

After we have spoken on the phone and we both feel we could be a match the next step is to come and say hi. We will put a date in the diary where you will come over and chat about your dog so I get a better picture and you meet my dogs and I and see my home. You can see my Licence, Insurance and other documentation.

After we have met if both feel we are still a match we will then book a day for your dog to visit. I will ask you not to bring your dog on the initial visit, this enables you to relax and take in everything. I prefer my our dogs to meet in a controlled situation where I am fully focused on whats happening.

I can't do this to my best ability and chat. You are welcome to bring a partner but I would ask that small people stay at home. I rarely have children visit and cannot ensure their safety with visiting dogs present.

I will need to see your dogs vaccination proof, including Kennel cough. Please check your dog has had the kennel cough vaccine as it is not always routinely included in vaccinations. Kennel cough is a live vaccine, I require 10 days clearance before I welcome any dog after this has been administered.

When we have a date for the trial day in our diary you will drop off your dog in the morning. During the trial day I will test for many things, I will try to engage with your dog, make friends and let them know I am their person when you aren't here.

They'll meet my dogs individually and I'll asses them, some things I look at are : lead walking, recall in the controlled space of my dog paddock, how they behave when excited, can I brush and examine them, how are they in the car and can I leave them alone briefly should I need to pop to the shop. My main aim for this day is for a dog to be happy in mine and my dogs company, to get them relaxed and able to enjoy the experience and want to come back. I want this to be the makings of a great stay, where you are both relaxed enjoying both your holidays.

Some dogs need more than one trial day or may find a few sessions of daycare really help them before boarding. This ensures you and your dog have familiarity with me.

What happens if my dog fails its trial?

I have a very comprehensive assesmentday, fails do happen. Mainly from excessive barking, pestering behaviour and separation anxiety.

I'm happy to try and work with owners to help these problems but must ensure the safety and comfort of all dogs I care for so sadly this does mean in some cases dogs fail.

Trial days are £40
